Personality Disorders are separated into clusters. Cluster A Personality Disorders are a group of personality disorders that involve unusual or eccentric thoughts and behaviors. The Cluster A Personality Disorders include Paranoid personality disorder, Schizoid personality disorder, and Schizotypal Personality Disorder. These individuals may have distorted perception and thinking patterns, problematic emotional responses and interpersonal difficulties.

Cluster B Personality Disorders include a group of individuals that are characterized by dramatic, emotional, or erratic behaviors. They may have unstable lifestyles, poor self-regulation, and seek constant attention. The Cluster B Personality Disorders include Borderline Personality Disorder, Antisocial Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and Histrionic Personality Disorder.


Cluster C Personality Disorders are a group of mental health conditions that are characterized by anxiety and fear. Avoidant Personality Disorder, Dependent Personality Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder are included in Cluster C. These individuals are regulated mostly by fear. There are no medications that are helpful to treat Personality Disorders; however, treatment of comorbid conditions may help. Psychotherapy is always indicated. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be helpful.
